What’s The Difference Between Lace Adhesive and Standard Adhesives?

There are many types of adhesives on the market for the hair replacement wearer so choosing the right one can be confusing at best. With lace adhesives you will usually find that the material is somewhat lighter than adhesives for base attachment. They are usually resin based and the viscosity is varied depending on the amount of solvent they contain.

Lace adhesives are intended specifically for lace application they are softer and more pliable and would probably not be as effective for attaching a base. Standard adhesives for base attachment and perimeter bonding are usually acrylic based adhesives. They dry harder than lace adhesives and generally have a much stronger hold. There are also white adhesives that will work for both lace and base attachment. The white adhesives can be either natural latex or synthetic latex. The white adhesives go on the skin or base white but dry clear when they are ready for attachment.

The important thing to remember with any adhesive is that not all adhesives work for everyone. First be sure the adhesive you choose is safe for skin contact and it is always best to test the adhesive on your skin before doing a full application. To do a skin test, simply apply a small amount of adhesive behind your ear on your skin. You will want to leave it there for at least 24 hours. If the adhesive is safe for you to use you should not experience any discomfort, itching or rash. If a rash occurs that adhesive is not for you.
